1 Corinthians 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

IN EVERY SEASON: An Independent Biblical Proof that Salvation Is Still Possible

Now that May 21, 2011 has come and gone without the destruction of the world, the defenders of the May 21 date have not let it go. They assert that May 21 still holds some kind of Biblical significance. This is because it falls on the seventeenth day of the second month of the Jewish calendar on what the May 21 defenders believe to be the seven thousandth anniversary of Noah’s flood. The year of Noah’s flood has been calculated to be 4990 BC. Seven thousand years later would be 2011 AD. If this calculation is accurate, then the world has reached the seven thousandth anniversary of Noah’s flood as of this writing. This study will show that there is reason to distrust this calculation and subsequently cast doubt on the significance of the seven thousandth anniversary of Noah's flood.

Noah’s flood is significant because it’s a historical parable pointing to the destruction of the world and the salvation of God’s elect. A teaching that is surfacing within this group is that May 21 was the day that the door of Noah’s ark was spiritually shut and that the possibility of salvation for anyone who has not yet been saved has ended. This study will show why that teaching is not true.

Who Are We to Withhold the Gleanings?

This entry is a direct response to those who wrongly contend that salvation is no longer available.

May 21

The talk on the Latter Rain Yahoo group is a microcosm of what is probably happening among all staunch defenders of the teaching that today, May 21 2011, is the day of the final judgment and the return of Christ. While this site summarizes the teaching with care not to endorse it as fact, this is not the point of this post. Here's the point of this post:

The Highly Esteemed

Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

There are many things that God hates. You can find them summed up in these verses:

What Is Truth?

Pontius Pilate asked Jesus Christ a question that is still quite common today: “What is truth?” This is a question I’ve heard posed by many who are looking for truth just about anywhere but to the Truth Himself, apparently not even considering Him as a possibility.

God, as He reveals Himself in the Bible, is widely and probably most often unconsciously discounted in the search for the definition of truth. The truth is not a what, but a who.

Peter and You

In my experience, the common teaching about the matter of Simon Peter’s threefold denial of Jesus is that Satan asked specifically to sift Simon Peter like wheat. Anyone not reading an English translation of the Bible that doesn’t properly use the Elizabethan English of the King James Bible or Young’s Literal Translation would miss an important point and go on thinking that Satan’s desire in this particular passage stops at Peter. It doesn’t. Lets examine the passage more closely.

Naaman's Test of Trust

Many of us are familiar with the account of Naaman the Syrian in 2 Kings 5. He was the leprous captain of the Syrian king's host. This morning, it seemed to appear to me differently than it ever has before as I contemplated several different developments in doctrinal teachings that have surfaced recently.

The Hungry Soul

Eating seems to be a much more pleasant experience when one is hungry. The hungrier someone is, the better food seems to taste. Imagine being so hungry that even food you normally hate tastes wonderful to you. This translates into spiritual language in the Bible.

Proverbs 27:7 ¶ The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

God declares that what satisfies hunger is called bread.

Proverbs 25:21 ¶ If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:

Josiah Part 2

Josiah was not supposed to have fought in this war. It was not his business.

Josiah

King Josiah was undoubtedly a saved man, a true child of God. He was going to heaven to be with God after his death. God promised this in fairly plain language.
